Q: What if I do not meet the continuing education requirements by the 8/31/2010 deadline and/or do not pay my state renewal fee? According to the DBPR/Construction Industry Licensing Board Web site, “If your license is current and active, it will be placed in a “delinquent active” status, and you will not be allowed to practice with this license until the status has been properly renewed." If your license is presently delinquent, it will become null and void. You will have to apply for a new license and retake the examination.

Bureau of Education and Testing

Florida law requires the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to monitor licensee compliance with continuing education requirements (Section 455.2177, Florida Statutes).

If you attempt to renew your license on-line and the department record reflect you have not fullfilled all the required hours/credits for the most recent renewal period, you will receive a letter in lieu of License.

In order for you to renew your license, you must complete all applicable continuing education requirements, including payment of the fees.

If you have completed all of your required hours and the department's system does not reflect this, then please remember that the Provider has 30 days to submit the course or courses that were completed. During the last month of renewal cycle, this period is shortened to 10 business days. You can always mail copies of your course completion certificates to:

Q: What if I pay the fee by the renewal date, but have not completed my continuing education requirements?
Your license will be placed in a delinquent status or become null and void. If your license becomes delinquent, you will not be charged a delinquency fee if your renewal fee is received by the renewal date. However, you will not be issued your license until you have provided proof of completing your required continuing education.”

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE COMPLETED YOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Q: I did my continuing education and my account at myfloridalicense.com is still showing a shortfall of 14 hours!
First, if your license has been renewed through 2012 (or 2013 for Registered contractors), then the first sheet you see when you click on “View Continuing Ed” will be your requirements for your 2012 renewal (or 2013 renewal for Registered contractors).  To view the hours you took with us in this current cycle, you’ll have to use the dropdown menu and select the 9/1/2008 to 8/31/2010 date range (9/1/2009 to 8/31/2011 for Registered contractors).  Also, you might want to go to www.myfloridalicense.com and just do a search for your license under the “Verify A License” section.  If you license expiration shows 8/31/2012 (or 8/31/2013 for Registered contractors), then the DBPR has received your hours and you’re all set until your next renewal. If your license status is still showing an expiration of 8/31/2010 (or 8/31/2011 for Registered contractors) and your hours are not showing up on your account, please allow a few days for your hours to post to your account. If your hours still aren’t showing up within a few days after completion, log into your course account with us here and make sure you’ve actually completed your courses.  If you’re complete with all courses and it’s been more than 2 days since you’ve completed your courses, then please contact us at registrar@contractorsed.com .

Q: How long will it take for me to get my certificates?  If during registration you chose to have your certificates e-mailed to you, you will receive one file of certificates within 24 to 48 hours after your last course is complete.  If you chose to have your certificates mailed to you, your certificates should be mailed within 10 to 14 days after completion of your last course.

Q: I did my continuing education, I can see it on my account at myfloridalicense.com but I still can't renew my license.
Please keep in mind that even if you complete your continuing education, you will not be able to renew your license until 90 days prior to your license's expiration date.
